Peter and I made today a photo safari bike ride. Peter got a new camera sling bag and had to test it out. Like always, I absconded with the large DSLR to take a few photos. But my trust P&S still does great with the macro work. I love the bee photo.

Peter went with me for a nice late afternoon bike ride. We found a brick inscribed by one of our wedding couples in front of the Word Fair Pavilion.

I forgot my camera today because I was SO excited about getting my odometer installed. (Thanks papa!) It was a hot afternoon ride. The odometer has many features including a temperature reading.

I'm not sure how or where it measures the temp. It kept fluctuating between 87-97 degrees depending on where I was in the park. Perhaps it had to do with riding on asphalt and the varying temperatures in sun and shade. Average speed was 12.5 miles. I think that is pretty good considering the heat.

Goal - 100 miles in 14 days
Status - 39 miles in 5 days

It was a beautiful afternoon bike ride. I finished 9 miles in 42 minutes. Then I took a break, called a good friend I can never get in touch with. Talked for more than an hour in the park and then rode the last mile home....

Sunny, 68 degrees, 10 miles - Skinker Hill and random wandering through the park.

First of all I want to ask, Are we really in St. Louis? I can not remember a pretty August in STL. Usually it is 90+ degrees with 70%+ humidity this time of year. What a difference this year! I would never want to move from STL if Augusts were always like this one.

I'd also like to add that Forest Park is a park. It is not a way to cut through to your job driving at insane speeds because you're late. Yes, I'm talking to you, you stupid woman on the phone who almost hit me speeding through the park.

Even I need to look out for others enjoying the beauty of the park. Like these ducks that happened to be on the path this morning.

7 miles in the morning with the papa. Here is the planetarium from the back side after getting up a nasty little hill.

And 6 miles in the afternoon with Peter. We accidentally got on a golf cart path and went riding throught the golf course. Man, there are some steep hills back there and some dangerous golf balls. (Thanks to the golfers who directed us back to the right path...)

I'm on jury duty so I didn't get to go biking yesterday morning. It was 100 degrees outside (literally) when I got home so I decided to get up early today and go for a short ride before making it over to the right Honorable Michael P. David's courtroom to sit through the jury selection process.

I didn't get chosen for jury duty, which is kind of sad because it was a short criminal case and I would have loved to have seen and been a part of the judicial process. But that's okay, it's wedding season and I am swamped with work!!!

(I'll be taking Saturday and Sunday off as I have a long wedding on Saturday and will get plenty of exercise carrying around 30 lbs of camera equipment for 10 hours dressed in black.)

It was raining, kind of. I had an early morning appointment. And being wet is really not a lot of fun. So I cut the ride short today. I just wanted to get out so that I keep up the habit of getting out everyday (23 days now)

Wow what a scorcher today! We really worked up a sweat today. We rode the Skinker Hill again today. But this time down the hill at 24 mph. That was fun. (Oh and apparently I'm not the only one who talks to herself when exercising and trying to get up the hills. :) )

We rode through the Kennedy Forest which is shaded by some really beautiful and large trees.

Today makes 3 weeks on the bike. Thanks for looking.

Up the hill again. Today Peter came along with me and I really enjoyed the company. We biked as far as usual, we just spent a few more minutes looking at personalized bricks in front of the new World's Fair Pavilion fountain. It's always interesting what people inscribe for posterity. There were a lot of really sweet dedications, but one of my favorites was "Nadie espera la inquisicion espanoli." (Forgive the lack of accents - I can't figure out for the web... the spelling is that which was on the brick)

Today makes a full week of the "The Bike Camera" blog. I just want to say I really appreciate the time everyone has taken to check into this blog. Thank you!!

Today I made it up the Skinker Hill. One mile uphill. Ugh. I'm sure people thought I was a little weird as I talked my way up the hill. "You can do it. Up the hill. Beat the hill." Plenty of satisfaction when I made it to the top.

It was a beautiful morning in the park. There were a lot less people out than I expected.

The fountains were running in the Grand Basin again - so I had to take a photo. Some other random macro flower photos from around the Muny.

It stormed badly last night and you could see evidence of it in down tree branches and huge mud puddles on the path. Let me just say, going down hill at 20 miles per hour though a mud puddle is not a pleasant experience. I'm sorry to anyone that happened to be on the path at that time. :)

8 miles - The ENTIRE loop of Forest Park (aka some really big hills)

I biked with the papa this morning. He has an odometer on his bike, so I learned that a stretch of path I thought was 2 miles is really only 1.5 miles. But that's okay, we made up for it today with the large hills on the south side of the park. He says he's getting me trained for the mountains of Austria. :)

We were really moving today, so I didn't get my photo until the end. Look and all the nice grime I picked up from today. :)

Bought an odometer from Amazon. It arrives July 28th. Looking forward to having better stats on the blog.

When I stopped to take my photo of the day, I struck up a conversation with a bird watcher. She was listening to the different bird songs to identify them and was intrigued by the song of a younger bird that had not fully learned his song. (I can identify a lot of bird by sight but I have no talent at identifying their songs - unless of course they are a parakeet. :) )

Still having fun with the macro feature of my p&s camera.
